Aha! I've never heard of Enhanced Dynamic Range, is it the same as HDR? I was going to comment on the beatiful exposure, no wonder! Great work with that technique. Seems that it is becoming more well known as flickr has a few groups dedicated to it.

Well, it´s "like" HDRI, but not quite... HDRI is more like full 32 bits per channel (usually many exposures) while what I call "enhanced" is just two exposures. Sometimes using a PS action to truly "simulate" HDRI, and sometimes just masking by hand (and sometimes, just using a small part of the image, like the sky, for example).

Ohhh I see! Well that is very enlightening for me, thanks for that explanation! :D
:iconcoletassoft:
I started doing that mainly for two reasons, a) as an "extension" of "faking" graduated filters in PS, and b) sometimes full image blending is either not needed or not desirable.

Take this pano for example, the "correct" exposure resulted in a *very* dark ceiling; so I used the overexposed pano to get them more or less "right". I tried blending the full two images, but the result was just that "dirty HDRI" that sometimes happens ;)

If I understand right, then I started doing this for exactly the same reasons.. except I was not aware of HDR anyhow. I just knew that I needed multiple exposures to get what I wanted to capture. Cool stuff, man!

Well, most of the time, you can do well enough with adjustment layers (like deepening the sky, a bit of saturation or contrast), but sometimes the digital dinamic range is not enough and you´ll need more than one exposure (even if they´re "fakes" from the same RAW file ;) )

PS. What I call "enhanced dinamic range" is actually more like burning and dodging than real HDRI... in essence, it could be said that I´m doing it "the Ansel Adams way" ;)

Is that right? hmm interesting. I guess if you take multiple images from the same raw, I see what you mean.

Another great pano, mate! There's a bit of an M.C. Escher thing happening with this one, which I really dig :)
